- -- AMMPT’s collection covers all aspects of the evolution of the moving image from its earliest beginnings, through to its emergence as television, and over the subsequent decades of this medium. While it principally focuses on the Australian cinema and television industries and amateur activities, examples of significant overseas developments are also included in its collection. The television component includes: -- Television cameras (studio and external) for various formats and control gear -- Image recording devices: telecine film, videodisc, videotape and solid state equipment -- Video camera accessories: lenses, microphones, cables, cases, teleprompters, etc. -- Studio and location grip equipment: cranes, dollies, mike booms, etc. -- Studio control panels, monitors and post production gear, editing, graphics generation, etc. -- Studio lighting and control gear -- Telecine and related film handling equipment -- Outside broadcast, microwave and transmission apparatus -- Television receivers, recorders and related consumer and commercial items -- Wardrobe items, costumes, station mascots, iconic props, etc. -- Graphics, art work, studio set floor plans and other hand drawn documents -- Photographs and industry memorabilia -- Historically unique items, prototypes, experimental, etc. -- Industry relevant documentation: licences, annual reports, guilds and societies, etc. -- Service and operating manuals

- The mission of the Australian Museum of Motion Picture and Television (Inc) is to promote a greater community awareness and appreciation of Australia’s contribution to the continuing evolution of the film, television and related media industries which has and continues to influence our unique social culture through exposure to these mediums. Affiliated regional branches are based in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne. Due to current unavailability of centralised storage for the collection in all regions, immediate access is unavailable, but special arrangements can be made to inspect specific objects by prior appointment. The AMMPT website provides archives of news items written by members and related organisations and editions of the newsletter “Newsreel” back to 2008.
