Leo Armati worked as a newspaper journalist, editor and publisher, in Australia and overseas, from 1903. In 1949 he and his wife Patricia bought “The Dubbo Liberal”, which was taken over by his son John when Leo died in 1962. The company grew to include more than sixty newspapers in the Macquarie Publishing group, covering a large area of southern NSW, until its sale to Rural Press in 1995.
